I've been sick forever! Mucus problem, help?
I am hoping that you have health insurance that would cover a visit to an allergist. I definately sounds like allergic vasomotor rhinitis....a fancy term for snot drainage caused by allergies. My personal recommendation is that you go to a pharmacy and ask the pharmacist for a prescription strength mucous relief with real pseudoephedrine and guaifenacin for daytime use. The prescription strength is only sold from behind the pharmacy counter. Continue to use the sinus rinse. Late afternoon or early evening start taking loratidine (Claritin) or cetirizine (Zyrtec). These antihistamines should help the nighttime problems. I don't believe in only using antihistamines because I feel the snot needs to get out some of the time or infection sets in. Drink lots of water when taking the mucous relief medicine. It helps the snot get thinner and easier to get out.
